Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Teledyne is seeking a seasoned Metrology Specialist to develop, document and maintain the calibration system, procedures and the calibration of electrical, dimensional, optical and mechanical, measurement and test equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the Calibration Database for all Test and Measuring Equipment.
  • Issue monthly calibration recall list to Calibration Area Coordinators.
  • Retrieve Test and Measuring Equipment from Calibration Area Coordinators and manage the calibration process of the equipment.
  • Input calibration test results into the Calibration Database.
  • Arrange calibration of factory test sets with the Production Test Manager.
  • Arrange calibration of engineering test sets with the Engineering Test Manager.
  • Generate Calibration Test Certificates for factory test sets.
  • Analysis General Purpose Test Equipment usage and procure new equipment as necessary.
  • Generate purchase requisition for replacement equipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Test Manager on the introduction of new technology and the procurement of new test equipment to support the technology.
  • Arrange for calibration of measuring and test equipment at the following Teledyne Controls Facilities: El Segundo CA, Thousand Oaks CA and Eagan MN.
  • Negotiate yearly Calibration Services Purchase Orders for Measuring and Test Equipment and for Weights and Scales.
  • Generate purchase requisition for day to day items such as pin gages, mechanical gages, calipers and small fixtures.
  • Maintain the Crimp Tools, including calibration, maintenance and procurement of replacements tools.
  • Issue and retrieve Crimp Tools.
  • Perform calibration of dimension measurement equipment (such as calipers, height gages, micrometers, pin gages).
  • Instruct Inspectors on the use mechanical equipment, tools and gages. 
  • Determine the need for new procedures and assist in the writing of those procedures.
  • Provide all customer and regulatory and internal auditors with data and records related to the calibration system.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • At least a minimum of two to five years’ of experience in the metrology and/or calibration field.
  • 5 year experience working in a Defense or Aerospace Company.
  • 3 year experience working in a Metrology or Calibration Laboratory.
  • 2 year experience working as a Metrology or Calibration Technician.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products: basic knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; advance knowledge of Excel.
  • Solid experience with Data Bases such as Access and/or File-Maker.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations with little to no assistance. 
  • Must able to work and communicate well in a team environment.
